The Windswept Facade

You stand towering over me
Stone and strength, your glory
The king of all the mountains
The harbinger of my story

The ice on your shoulders
Hadn't always been a mate
The trees, the birds, the steps
The love, the grief, the hate

It was just you and the wind
She ran and flew around you
Impossible untamed uncouth
She swept her arms around you

The empty valley reveling
In the dance of the wind
As you swayed to your paramour
Tapping feet to the strings

She moved, she writhed, she blew
The violent passion dispersed
You melted in her fervor
She rose like a tide, you lay immersed

You wanted her for your own
The empty valley cried
You cannot cage wind
You bled, you sighed

The temptress blew up the sky
The whirlwind swooped around
You cried, begged, explained
She raged on, her anger abound

The passion turned to ice
You stood alone, silently pledged
Turning to stone, immovable now
The windswept facade
